Celebration Riders Annual Retreat
2008 Annual Retreat
Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch - Quincy, CA
Westerner Motel - Gardnerville, NV
We left Friday morning about a half hour late...but who cares...we have the road in front of
us and no real timetable to follow other than being at the Greenhorn by 8PM to eat.  We
definitely took the "Long Way".  Vasco Road North thru Byron and out the Delta on Hwy 4.
The only major highway we took was Hwy 5 for a mile to catch the Stockton crosstown to
Hwy 99 North.  After only another mile we exited to ride Hwy 88 to Hwy 124 Thru Ione to
Hwy 49.  We rode Hwy 49 all the way thru Placerville, Auburn, and Grass Valley with a stop
in Nevada City for lunch at Lefty's Grill.  And what a lunch it was!  I Probably had one of the
top 5 burgers I've ever had.  It had Gorgonzola cheese and burgundy caramelized onions
on it!!!!
Continuing on Hwy 49 North we made a stop in one of my favorite little towns, Downieville.
We hung out on the shaded streets and sipped cappucinos and cokes.  Very nice place!
From Hwy 49 we took Gold Lake Rd to Hwy 70.  Soon we were at the Ranch.  If lunch
wasn't enough...now came an old fashioned western BBQ.  We're talking ribs, chicken,
potato salad, beans...the works!  That evening and into the night some hung out and
visited while others sat around the campfire and sang songs with ranchers Ralph & Trish
until 11 PM.  Breakfast was also an event.

Saturday morning we rode south on Hwy 89 to Truckee and Hwy 267 to Lake Tahoe.  From
there it was up and over Mt Rose on Hwy 431, then onto Hwy 341 to Virgina City, NV for a
little break.  The food was so-so but it was a fun stop.
We headed south and got on Hwy 395 south to Gardnerville, NV where we stayed at the
Westerner Motel.  Nice little place with a much desired pool.  We had dinner at a local
pizza parlor.

Sunday morning we hit the road and had a very good breakfast at Woodetts Diner.  We
came home on Hwy 88 over Carson Pass.  We made a stop at Silver Lake and found a
nice little empty picnic area where we had our morning devotions.  We all took turns
telling about what God is doing in our life.  A great time.  After a stop in Jackson for lunch
At Mel and Fayes Diner we went straight home.  I had 592 miles on my odometer when I
rode into the garage.  It was in all ways one of my favorite rides
